Providing GIS information and education to the public and all GIS user members.
Providing officials within Ramsey County with a wealth of public information, derived from utilizing GIS technologies, so that they can make more informed decisions for the good of the people. The RCGISUG will support an online map service that displays a variety of countywide data to members and the public (www.ramseygis.org)
Establishing cost-sharing programs between all organizations involved, which will provide members with enhanced GIS data such as current countywide data, ortho-photography and map features. The RCGISUG will also share knowledge and educational opportunities with members and others outside the group to promote GIS development within and outside the organization.
The Ramsey County GIS Users Group (RCGISUG), established in 1995, is an alliance of 23 Geographic Information Systems (GIS) user organizations that consist of an array of entities including municipalities, school districts, and environmental organizations. The foundational database used by the RCGISUG was created and is maintained by Ramsey County. The RCGISUG, although independent from Ramsey County, relies on the Counties cooperation in providing the Users Group with the distribution of updated County data.
